Job opportunities

This role is all about being great with customers. You don’t need any retail experience, you just need to be naturally enthusiastic and friendly. After all, a big part of your job is ensuring everyone who comes through our doors has a great experience and leaves with a smile on their face. Whilst the role is extremely hard work and you’ll spend long periods of time on your feet, it’s varied enough to keep it interesting. Plus, the rewards are great, with fantastic benefits, flexible hours and a fun working environment.
Customers are everything to us, which is why our duty managers are so crucial. Their energetic work ethics and enthusiastic attitudes are essential to delivering the excellent service our customers deserve. As duty manager, you’ll lead a team of customer service assistants. You will delegate workloads, handle cash, receive deliveries and ensure health and safety standards never fall, all whilst mucking in around the store, doing everything required to deliver the best possible experience for every customer and setting a stellar example to your team.
At BP, we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service. We want to make sure every customer that enters one of our stores leaves with a smile on their face. As deputy store manager, your approachability, enthusiasm and friendliness will help motivate the team to deliver top class customer service. It will be up to you to manage all aspects of the store: you will work closely with the retail store manager to optimise the store’s financial performance, finding ways to increase sales and doing in-store promotions. You’ll also look after orders and deliveries, help recruit new team members and, ultimately, do whatever is required to keep the store running smoothly.
Each day brings a new set of challenges for our retail store managers. Their ability to inspire a team, build rapport with customers and make shrewd business decisions is crucial in ensuring store operations always run like clockwork. You will lead a team of up to 30 team members and three managers, taking responsibility for all aspects of the store, managing sales, developing staff, overseeing HR, and, most importantly, guaranteeing exceptional customer service by instilling its importance in your team. You will also be active on the store floor, leading your colleagues by example.
Our area managers have responsibility for some 15 to 18 BP-operated and franchised stores. That means controlling up to 100 million litres of fuel and around £25m of shop sales every year, and taking charge of up to 300 people and a budget that can reach £3m. Do you have what it takes?
